Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted in

This is just a short post to wish everyone the happiest of Thanksgiving holidays.  The astrological aspects for Thanksgiving this year are pretty darn good, and I hope that all of you enjoy the good vibes in the sky.  This year, the sun, Venus, and Jupiter will all be in the Sagittarius for the holiday.  That's three happy planets in a sign associated with optimism and abundance.  Venus brings harmony to the Thanksgiving table. Jupiter brings a healthy appetite for both life and food, so it will be cheering us on as we all over-indulge a bit in yummy goodies.  The sun, meanwhile, gives us the consciousness to be grateful for all we have; it allows us to reflect on all the good in our lives.

Things look pretty darn nice for the after-Thanksgiving sales, too.  Venus in Sag loves to shop for others, so that bodes well for those of us who plan to scoop up some gifts this weekend.  Jupiter brings good fortune to the generous, and it makes us all want to be generous.

Surveys indicate that Americans this year want to tighten their wallets this holiday season, but Jupiter and Venus may have other plans.  In Sagittarius, both planets encourage us to splurge a little on those we love, and they're impulsive in this sign, too. It may prove hard to resist the impulse to give a favorite person the perfect gift, even if it's not in the budget

If impulse shopping is your habitual downfall, you may want to put off your shopping until December 11 or later, when Venus enters the occasionally miserly sign of Capricorn.  Venus in Cap is not the least bit impulsive, and it keeps a much closer eye on the budget than normal for this usually indulgent planet. On the other hand, if it's sheer shopping enjoyment you want, shop early and be willing to go for broke.

Fortunately, generous Jupiter brightens the Christmas bonus picture, too.  Even tight-fisted companies may be a little looser with the bonus money this year, potentially giving some cash-strapped families a reason to celebrate.

Of course, Thanksgiving is not just about food and shopping! It's about the deeper meanings of the connections we all share as human beings, the connections that make us want to share our bounty with others.  So here are a few of my Thanksgiving wishes for you:

May your travel plans go smoothly.  May you spend the holiday with people you love in an atmosphere of goodwill.  May the turkey turn out perfect, and the garbage disposal not back up while you have 12 guests in your home.  May you reach out to anyone you know who's lonely at this time, and share a bit of the warmth in your life with them.  May you get to eat at least one piece of all your favorite kinds of pie.  May your favorite football teams win or at least beat the spread.  May you spend a few moments in grateful contemplation of all that's right in your life.  May you enjoy the wine and not worry too much about the dishes.  May you revel in the sheer pleasure of a post-meal nap.  May all your normal worries seem far, far away for a day.  May you laugh so hard at least once that your stuffed stomach hurts.  May the dishes be tasty, the mood bright, and the good feelings real.
